Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How can our team register for RISE?
The team registration link is https://forms.gle/sdtyXL2tue2VYN5f6. RISE is taking place the day after MRI, so teams may register for just RISE, or both RISE and MRI. If your team is participating in both RISE and MRI, you can leave your pit up at the end of MRI so that you are ready for RISE the next day.

Our team does not have enough girls for our drive team. Can we still participate?
Yes! We have other teams that will be able to provide female/non-binary individuals who can be part of your drive team during the RISE event. Volunteers will also be available to help your team

We encourage every team to use the RISE event to recruit new female/non-binary individuals to your team and provide them with this opportunity to try robotics in a fun and supportive environment. Bring potential new female/non-binary team members to RISE. Even if they don’t want to be on the drive team, this is a great opportunity for girls to learn that FIRST is for everyone and offers many opportunities to excel in robotics (including driving the robot!).

Will there be opportunities for students who have never been on a drive team before to “practice” before an actual RISE event match?
Yes! During the RISE event, we will have a small practice area with game elements where students can work with their robots.

In addition, Team 2052 / Knightkrawler will be hosting two “Donuts and Driving” sessions before the RISE event at Irondale High School in New Brighton. Your team can bring your robot, get some practice for members of your drive team, and meet teams who will be attending RISE.  Additional information coming soon.

How will RISE be similar to other FRC off-season events?
Like many other FRC off-season events, like MRI, RISE will offer a tournament-style competition format with qualification matches, alliance selection (4 alliances) and a playoff tournament to end the day. We aim to give students an FRC competition-style experience, while also providing space and support for participating students to try something new!

A special RISE T-shirt will be available for purchase at the event.

      Is RISE only for girls?
No!! Everyone is welcome to participate and support the RISE mission. We want all team members, supporters and community members to be part of RISE.

What else will be different about the RISE event?
During the RISE event, we will spotlight the success of female/non-binary students, alumni and volunteers in FIRST and STEM, and the success of FIRST teams in meeting the RISE mission. Organizations that support STEM for everyone will be attending RISE so that you can connect with these groups and learn about the great work that these groups are doing.

How can we spread the word about RISE?
Information about RISE is in this two page
RISE info sheet.

If your team is participating in RISE, please encourage all team members and friends of your team to attend.
